MZA’s maiden set at Moonstone! He’ll be bringing an eclectic yet harmonious mix of house, UKG, jungle, and hip hop.

Matthew Sekiya aka MZA is a mixed Japanese-Singaporean DJ/Producer, based in Singapore who is strongly influenced by his roots in hip hop and jazz. 

Since the late 2010s he has been on a quest digging for samples in deep dusty grooves while constantly studying and evolving his sound. Whether it's a 4x4 groove, bulby garage basslines to amen-infused holy rollers under one of his many personas. MZA seeks to create a sound that encapsulates his life in the Southeast Asian diaspora.

As a DJ, he's built a career crafting sets that are bold and traverses the genre and bpm barriers. Being able to build up from hip hop, R&B slow jams to the break neck rhythms of hardcore and jungle that will have a crowd bouncing off the walls.

He's done gigs at Kilo Lounge, Nike, Good Times, Offtrack, solfa Nakameguro (Tokyo), The Commons (Bangkok), Odd Tape (Saitama), Loser Store (Osaka) to name a few. While being featured on the highly respected Wax Poetics for a DJ live stream session in 2022.

Currently he is a resident of Hong Kong Community Radio, hosting a monthly show, YENWORLD, airing every first Thursday of the month. While running his imprint, Yen Disco Soundsystem where he continues to produce music of diverse genres. Often embracing his Japanese and Southeast Asian roots through instrumentation and melodies.
