The musical project of Singaporean DJ, producer and journalist, Kevin Ho, The Beat Usagi exists as an autobahn of expression for his oft-nomadic imaginarium. It is a constantly evolving culmination of his deep-seated attachments to the local music industry; a shapeshifting medium with experimental and crowd-pleasing output. With over 10 years of experience documenting the history of the music scene – Kevin is also the founder and editor of digital publication, Life In Arpeggio – he distils his wisdom into his craft as a performer and creator. Under the persona of The Beat Usagi, he gives his vision a voice.

His sounds resemble a smorgasbord of genres. He salutes his origins by exploring his forte of techno, ranging from aggressive variants and raw, hypnotic departures, to old-school Detroitian salutes and more progressive, melodious sub-disciplines. Yet his library flaunts a diversity that makes him suited for all sorts of locales and affairs, brandishing other niches like house, tech-house, deep house, electronica, minimal, nu-disco and indie dance.

In 2023, Kevin released his three-track EP titled REBEHAVIOUR. It represents a snapshot of his process of recalibration, as he tunes into familiar frequencies that endured as pillars of comfort during the brunt of the pandemic.
