Effervescent would be the quintessential descriptor of Kevin Sy’s eclectic sound. You’ll catch Kevin cruising in a time-travelling Delorean through the retro echelons of Italo disco. He concocts soundtracks for the beach with his bounty of Balearic beats and nu-disco selections. And as a honcho of house music, the diverse audiophile pumps out everything from deep soulful hues to crisp techy textures. Along with luscious basslines and melodious motifs, Kevin digs the sound of ’80s-era synths which he plays with like a kid in a toy store (or in his case, a gearhead in a synth shop).
You might stumble upon Nintendo-esque chiptune elements or flamboyant Knight Rider-styled riffs within his synthwork; components that are as chipper as his bubbly personality. Having opened for legends such as Terada Soichi, Alex from Tokyo & Super Flu to the current wave of Italo DJs such as Shubostar, Chinaski & Soft Crash and most recently performing at one of Tokyo’s iconic Bridge Bar Shibuya you can count on Kevin for a fun time on the dance floor.
